RESEARCH ABSTRACT
After receiving his Bachelor's of Science degree in 2004 from California State University, Stanislaus, Larry Cabral proceeded to California State University, Sacramento to earn his Masters degree under the supervision of Brett Holland. The subject of his research was the study of sexual selection using experimental evolution. An opportunity to work on the quantitative genetics of behavior took him to the University of California, Davis, in 2006 to work with Sergey Nuzhdin and Brad Foley. After receiving his Masters degree, Cabral accepted a faculty position as a Lecturer at California State University, Sacramento.
In the fall of 2008, the desire to continue studying experimental evolution took him to University of California, Irvine under the supervision of Michael Rose and Laurence Mueller. The subject of his dissertation was the evolution of reproductive isolation in laboratory populations of Drosophila melanogaster. In August of 2015, Larry Cabral graduated from the University of California, Irvine with a Ph.D. in Biological Sciences.
